Greetings from the directors of the Mark 6-34 Project Inc. The school year is winding down and summer vacation is fast approaching. We are glad to report that we are very close to reaching our goal of 150 scholarships for the 2011-12 school year . Thank the Lord for how He has helped us in this endeavor. To those of you who have financially supported us, we thank you again. Without your generosity, we would not have been able to provide these scholarships. If you have not yet donated toward this school year, would you consider making a donation to help us achieve our goal? I recently had the privilege to spend a week in Haiti. It was so good to see in person instead of just in pictures, the mission schools, the school directors and teachers, and especially all of the school children. I was also glad to meet many of the parents of children that receive scholarships. Their appreciation for the scholarship program was evident as I met with them and spoke to them through an interpreter. It is hard to understand what is means to live in a third world country until you actually see it with your own eyes. How heart-wrenching it is think of elementary school children in Haiti going to school for only about five hours a day because they get so hungry they can no longer concentrate on their studies. That is a far cry from the obesity problem in American schools! We hope to see some kind of food program made available in these Haitian schools; but in the meantime, we pray that as we help more and more families with tuition costs, they will be more able to provide for the basic needs of their children. God forgive America for living so affluently while so many of His children around the world are living in such poverty. Let us share the love of Jesus with them by giving selflessly to appropriate Christian charities and ministries. Thank the Lord for opportunities to serve and give, regardless of how insignificant they may seem!
God Bless, Steve Giles, Executive Director
